Sámi was created via Coloratura, a system of paintbrushes that create music and art simultaneously. Each brush is assigned to a different color and musical note to simulate synesthesia.

In February 2023, I was an artist in residence at Elsewhere Studios in Paonia, Colorado. I used my residency to explore various forms of textile painting and surface design. With ample time and space to experiment freely, I developed a way to use Coloratura to paint on fabric directly, using suspended conductive film as an easel. Sámi, inspired by the indigenous people of Scandinavia, was the first piece I created using this method.
