Descriptions for the four pieces featured in the video are listed below.

Blue Groove, 2024
Acrylic on water & paper

'Blue Groove' use water marbling and a mirror to reflect on identity, distortion, and the subtle act of self-erasure. As pigments drift across the surface, they gradually obscure my reflection, offering a quiet reminder of how easily the self can dissolve and reassemble. The piece functions as an evolving self-portrait and captures the shifting ways we may lose and rediscover ourselves.

Sami, 2023
Fabric dye on silk, 2023

Sámi was created by painting on silk stretched over a conductive surface, allowing each brushstroke to shape both image and tone. Loosely inspired by the Indigenous Sámi people of Northern Europe, the piece draws on their traditional use of primary colors, geometric patterns, and cosmological symbolism.

I Came to the Water, 2023
Sumi ink & breath on water, silk

Inspired by the traditional Japanese water marbling practice of suminagashi, 'I Came to the Water' uses voice/breath, and water as tools for both visual/sonic composition and and meditative surrender.

I use the water as both a conductive surface and a canvas, dipping the Coloratura brushes from paint to water, relinquishing control of the design and allowing the water's surface tension to dictate the spread and flow of the pigment. As the ink disperses across the surface, I sing directly onto the water, letting the vibrations of my voice guide the movement of the design.   The resulting pattern becomes a visual representation of my voice, integrated into the final design and captured on silk before the moment disappears.

Concerning the Musical in Art, 2024
Acrylic on PET film

What does it mean to listen with the eyes, or to see music unfold in space? This question shaped both the exhibition 'Concerning the Musical in Art' and the performance I created for it.

The show, which I curated at the Mulvane Art Museum in Topeka, Kansas, drew inspiration from Wassily Kandinsky’s writings on the spiritual connection between sound and image, and celebrated the work of Rita Blitt, an abstract expressionist painter and sculptor whose practice explores the interplay of visual art, music, and dance.

My performance embodied both artists’ visions, merging gesture, color, and sound into a live audiovisual composition that blurred the boundaries between painting, performance, and musical expression.
