THE COLORATURA COLLECTIVE
PROGRAM LAUNCH:
LATE FEBRUARY 2026
The Coloratura Collective brings together artists, musicians, educators, and health practitioners to co-design new techniques, applications, and creative possibilities for Coloratura: an audiovisual instrument that transforms paintbrushes into tools for making electronic music and analog visual art.
-
Coloratura is a custom-built audiovisual instrument that transforms paintbrushes into tools for creating electronic music and analog visual art. It bridges the gap between visual and sonic expression and offers a tactile, screen-free interface ideal for use in educational, creative, and therapeutic settings.

The Coloratura Collective is a pilot program that brings together a small group of artists, musicians, educators, and therapists to explore how Coloratura can be used in real-world settings.
Each participant will receive a Coloratura device to integrate into their creative, educational or therapeutic practice
The group will meet regularly to exchange best practices and provide design feedback
This input will help shape future versions and implementations of Coloratura for broader accessibility
-
All Coloratura Collective participants will receive:
A stipend to honor their time, insight, and creative contributions
A materials budget to support hands-on exploration and experimentation
Access to a Coloratura prototype for use in their own practice
A supportive peer cohort of artists, therapists, and educators
A role in shaping the design, accessibility, and applications of a new creative tool
An opportunity to participate in public-facing events to showcase findings and use cases
-
The Coloratura Collective is designed to support consistent engagement while remaining flexible for busy professionals. The structure includes a mix of virtual and in-person sessions from February - September 2026
One virtual meeting per month
Four in-person sessions in the Kansas City Metro area (February, April, June, August)
One public event (September 2026)
Sessions are approximately 90–120 minutes each
